After more than a century of silence—when distillation was prohibited across Tasmania—whisky-making returned to the island’s rugged shores, shaped by patience, resilience, and place.

Named in tribute to Shakespeare’s The Tempest, this expression channels a narrative of natural force and elegant transformation, reflected in every sip.

The island’s pristine microclimate—warm summers, cool winters, and temperate maritime winds—fosters slow, deliberate aging. Fed by rainwater carried on Antarctic air currents, Tasmania’s pure water lends the spirit a singular clarity—an unseen hand in The Tempest’s refined character.

At its foundation: locally sourced malted barley, nurtured by Tasmania’s rich soil and coastal air. The spirit undergoes a two-day distillation using traditional wash stills, followed by a slow spirit distillation—enhancing purity, depth, and complexity.

Where others rush maturation in small casks, The Tempest waits. It matures for 17 years in standard-size bourbon barrels, then finishes for three additional years in second-fill port casks—yielding extraordinary structure, balance, and finesse.

On the nose, aromas of biscotti, vanilla nougat, and citrus marmalade unfold into a palate of stewed apricots, ginger, and golden sultanas. The finish lingers warm with notes of toffee and spice—a layered expression of Tasmania’s elemental terroir.
